The Georgia Technology Authority, which operates the state’s communication network, has chosen BellSouth to upgrade the network.

The network will be changed to multi-protocol label switching from frame relay, the GTA said.

The conversion is expected to take 12 months and will involve more than 1,800 circuits.

MLPS network will permit the state to handle data, voice and video over the same network. Data transmissions can also be assigned different priorities, and it can provide enhanced security, the GTA added.
