Cingular is using Tekelec solutions as part of its network upgrade and expansion into new markets, the companies said Wednesday.
Tekelec’s Eagle signaling application system and a manager solution are intended to help Cingular decrease costs, improve network capacity and reduce the number of facilities needed for its network.
Cingular is deploying a so-called star architecture for its networks so that most calls originate and terminate within the same region, the companies said. Tekelec’s application also enables calls to be routed to a different network if there is a failure of some kind.
