Citing increased sales, RF Micro (Nasdaq: RFMD) reported it made a $3 million profit in the first quarter of its fiscal 2005 year.

The manufacturer of radio frequency circuits said it generated revenues of $165.8 million, a 26 percent increase over 2004 and a 1.4 percent increase from the previous quarter.

“The year-over-year increase in gross profit was primarily attributable to increased sales, and the sequential increase in gross profit was primarily attributable to improved test yields for certain module products,” the company said in a statement.

The 3 cents-per-share in earnings per share compares to a 4-cent loss, or $8.2 million, in the same quarter for 2004.
