IBM has released a new line of software products designed for applications to run services on next-generation networks.
The WebSphere Everyplace Service Delivery software is middleware based on open standards and is intended to help network service providers develop new or enhanced wireless data and voice capabilities.
Features include mobile portal, device management, subscriber management, and telecommunications application server offerings.
According to IBM, the portal offering “enables service providers to quickly and cost-effectively gain access to web based applications running across virtually any network.” Device management is designed to help service providers “to manage client applications and reduce the cost of customer care”. The telecommunications application enables developers “to gain access to network service capabilities like call control, voice messaging, text and multimedia messaging, location and presence through standard telecommunications web services.”
