David Pond, executive vice president and chief operations officer at engineer consulting firm WK Dickson, recently received the engineer of the year award from the Professional Engineers of North Carolina.
The award goes to an individual who has been a member of the organization for at least 10 years and is a professional engineer with a record of “extensive participation” in the field plus the community.
Pond received the award last weekend in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Pond is the immediate past chairman and current trustee of the Engineers for Better Government Political Action Committee and is President-Elect for the Board of Directors for the American Council of Engineering Companies. He is a former president of the Carolinas group and served as national director of the National Society of Professional Engineers from 2002 to 2004.
WK Dickson, which is based in Charlotte, has seven offices and nearly 200 employees. Its offices are in Charlotte, Hickory, Raleigh and Wilmington, NC; Columbia, SC; Atlanta; and Tallahassee, FL.
