Paradigm Genetics and the National Institute of Environmental Health Scienes are expanding their current research agreement covering liver toxicology.
The studies could produce a prototype system for a toxicology research database, according to Paradigm. The additional work includes research into four to six more known liver toxicants and related information, including analysis of gene expression and metabolic profiles.
The work will be covered under an existing contract and evaluate liver samples provided by the National Center for Toxicogenomics.
The contract dates to 2002 and covered five years for $23.8 million. The understanding was expanded with $8.4 million in funding last year.
“Portions of this newly broadened research effort will be funded from the contract option that was exercised in 2003,” Paradigm said.
