USAT, a wireless systems integrator based in Chapel Hill, is helping Sprint implement a wireless data solution for the mobile field force of Getronics.

The project covers some 1,000 Sprint PCS cards for its service team on a 24×7 basis and deliver access to corporate data and applications for executives. Getronics employs more than 22,000 people around the world.

Getronics, an information and communication services provider, conducted a pilot program last year before moving to implement a wider solution. Sprint is also providing additional wireline, data and wireless voice services.

“It is essential for the people who service our clients on a daily basis to have immediate access to all of the knowledge resources within Getronics regardless of location,” said Romolo Pallini, Getronics director of networks and telecom, in a statement. “For our field service force, access to the information they need, when they need it ensures that Getronics can meet our clients’ service level agreements. More importantly, it ensures that our clients are able to profit from their IT investments.”

USAT provides “ruggedized” computers, reliable wireless data communication systems, and technology installation services. In this contract, USAT provided wireless WAN modems and activations plus wireless LAN infrastructure site surveys and installations.
