CipherTrust, a developer of security applications for messaging, has joined the Trusted Electronic Communications Forum, which aims to eliminate phishing.

Phishing is a technique for fraud where fake emails are used to impersonate a bank or another trusted part in an attempt to acquire financial information.

CipherTrust said it will offer technical advice on security and anti-spam solutions.

TECF’s Board of Governance includes AT&T Wireless, Best Buy, Charles Schwab, CipherTrust, DIRECTV, E*Trade, Fidelity Investments, GE Access, IBM, National City Bank, PostX Corporation, Royal Bank of Scotland and Siebel Systems.
