Reichold, a developer of various resins, recently purchased a surface appearance analysis system from Techlab.

The company said it is the first in the US to acquire the Ondulo system and adds that the purchase is an investment “for the future in closed molding applications.”

According to Reichold, the system enables it to “objectively measure and quantify the surface quality of molded composite surfaces” produced with resins.

“Detection of a single micron defect on a square meter of surface is possible,” the company added. “The equipment is capable of analyzing a wide array of composite surfaces including automotive fenders, hoods, flat panels and even architectural door skins.”
