Sicel Technologies, which is nearing launch of its first commercial product, also has a new president. But he’s a familiar face.

Michael Riddle, the chief operating officer of Sicel since December and a consultant with the company before that, was named president on Tuesday.

Dr. Robert Black retains the titles of chief executive officer and chief technology officer.

Dr. Charles Scrantion, founder of the company who launched Sicel in 1999, remains chairman of the board.

Sicel, a developer of implantable sensors that will track tumor cells, plans to launch its OneDose product in the third quarter, pending FDA approval. It also has a second sensor in human clinical trials and is shooting for FDA approval in 2005.

Riddle, who has more than 25 years of experience in health care, was executive vice president of sales, marketing and business development at Pharmanetics.
