Alan Nugent, chief technology officer at Novell, kicks off the two-day itec technology conference Wednesday morning.
Nugent is discussing a hot topic, too: “Implementing Linux and Open Source Strategy: What Business and IT Executives Need To Know.”
Frank Prestipino, vice president of global enterprise applications for Oracle, will deliver the keynote address on Thursday.
Nugent is one of a host of speakers and presents scheduled to appear at the two-day event. His speech begins at 9 AM. All events are at the Charlotte Convention Center.
“itec is designed to provide the most current and valued information to IT professionals in the Charlotte region,” says Peter Shaw, president of Centric Events Group, which is putting on the show. “This year we have focused on the technologies and solutions which can help (executives) transform (their) businesses — aligning IT infrastructure with business priorities.”
Four “tracks” of presentations are scheduled:
An interesting presentation scheduled for Wednesday afternoon is the “Emerging Technologies Showcase” in which Microsoft’s Longhorn will be matched against Linux. The discussion is titled “Building the OS of the Future.”
More than 50 companies will be exhibiting.
