YOUNGSVILLE,Law Enforcement Associates is acquiring a Florida-based firm in a deal with more than $2.4 million.

The stock-and-cash acquisition of Audio Intelligence Devices means that a number of jobs will be added at LEA, which is based in Youngsville. The headquarters of Audio Intelligence in Deerfield Beach, FL will be closed.

Audio Intelligence billed itself as “The world’s largest manufacturer of electronic surveillance equipment.” The company was founded in 1968 and sold its products only to law enforcement and government agencies.

LEA (OTC: LENF) agreed to pay $200,000 in cash, $340,000 over the next 34 months, plus 2.4 million shares of stock. LEA stock closed at 80 cents, up 3 cents, on Monday.

The acquisition is the first for LEA, which develops and sells a variety of undercover and surveillance products.

“We have known and respected Audio Intelligence Devices for 25 years and view this acquisition as strategic and an extremely valuable addition to LEA,” said Paul Feldman, president of LEA. “We plan to use AID’s products and brand name to further our presence in the homeland security, intelligence gathering and surveillance markets.”
