LecStar Telecom, a regional provider of telecommunications services, will work with a utility company on a trial of delivering broadband services over power lines.
LecStar did not identify the power company.
The trial is scheduled to last six months, and some 30 utility customers will be selected for participation.
LecStar said it would be among the first competitive local exchange carriers to offer Voice over Internet Protocol telephony services through power lines.
