PowerByHand, which recently acquired Pinpoint and plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Tennessee to Durham, has hired a new executive.

Tony Philipp joins the wireless application development firm as senior vice president with responsibilities for international operations and expansion.

Philipp has launched other ventures in Europe, including Lycos Bertelesmann and European Magellan, according to PowerByHand. He has more than 15 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development for telecommunications and technology companies.

“PowerByHand’s expectations for rapid growth dictate that we bring in someone with Tony’s international development and management skills to help us build our infrastructure and accelerate our growth,” said Ryan Wuerch, CEO of PowerByHand. “Tony’s background and proven leadership abilities will provide an immediate impact on PowerByHand’s success.”

Phillipp worked most recently for Vivisimo, a provider of content clustering and Internet search technology.
