CARY –inGenium Research, a contract research organization, has hired a former executive of PPD Development, as its president and chief executive officer.

Dr. Joshua Baker, PhD, comes to inGenium from PPGx, where he served as president and CEO. Baker also served formerly as executive vice president for global operations at PPD Development, a subsidiary of PPD, a CRO based in Wilmington, NC.

“His leadership and expertise in global clinical development and his experience with emerging growth companies will prove invaluable to inGenium Research in its quest to become the premier CRO,” said Jim Baker, chairman of the board, in a statement. Baker served as president and CEO.

Baker earned his doctorate and masters degree in mathematics from Texas A&M University. He earned his undergraduate degree in math at Penn State.

inGenium announced in February it had won a contract to assist in developing a novel monoclonal antibody for lymphoma with Peregrine Pharmaceuticals

inGenium also recently signed a drug development deal with Carolina Pharmaceuticals, which is also based in Cary.
