Cary — A4 Health Systems is rolling out a new online service to link physicians with patients.

“Healthmatics Access” is designed to help doctors provide patients with services such as bi-directional messaging, appointment requests, insurance, prescription refills and lab results.

“Patients are more educated, more technology savvy and have busier lifestyles today than in the past, so they demand more in terms of convenience and access,” says John McConnell, CEO of A4. “Just as other industries provide customers useful online services, medical practices must learn to cater to today’s consumer. And, the time savings and streamlined administrative tasks that result from Healthmatics Access will create equal satisfaction within the medical practice as with the patients.”

A4 cited a recent survey by CyberAtlas that reported 50 percent of online consumers would be interested in web-based offerings from their doctors.
