Engineous Software will be used by the US Army in its “SMART” costing initiative as part of transformation initiatives put in place by the Department of Defense.

The Engineous software is being used by LMI Government Consulting, which won the contract.

According to Engineous, the SMART initiative “is to develop a performance-based cost estimation capability linked to engineering designs and effectiveness models that will enable cost-performance trade-offs early in the life cycle of a system.”

LMI will use the Federated Intelligent Product Environment (FIPER) program from Engineous, which supports use by grids and is built on Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE). FIPER provides a web-based, distributed engineering analysis infrastructure.
