StrikeIron, a startup focused on web services development, has hired a former Red Hat and IBM executive to be its chief marketing officer.

James Neiser, PhD, has held a variety of positions with Triangle area firms. He served as chief marketing officer at Red Hat and four vice president positions at IBM. He also served as interim chief executive officer at YellowBrick Solutions.

“James’ expertise in strategy, marketing and brand management across a broad category of market-making technology companies is exactly what we need to take StrikeIron from a startup to a leader in web services,” said Richard Holcomb, chief executive officer and one of the founders of StrikeIron. “Innovative yet strategic marketing is essential to our current and future success and we’re thrilled to have James on the team.”

Neiser has a PhD in cognitive psychology from Oklahoma State University with a focus on memory and information processing. He has taught five years on the college level.
