Mobile Reach International has entered into a partnership with Air-Q Wi-Fi Corp. to provide businesses an enterprise application network integrated into Air-Q’s Wi-Fi hotspot network.

“Gaining exposure to America’s finest companies through Mobile Reach represents an extremely important point in our growth,” said Air-Q President David Loflin. “We firmly believe that we will be able to benefit from our partnership with Mobile Reach, because our Wi-Fi hotspot network is reliable and cost efficient.”

Air-Q, which develops and operates wireless Internet access systems, has its first Wi-Fi Internet access system is in Baton Rouge, LA, where the company is based. A second system is located in Phoenix, AZ.

Under the terms of the deal, the companies will work jointly to extend enterprise data systems beyond the traditional four walls of the office, broadening the reach of connectivity through the use of emerging network structures, such as Wi-Fi.

Brian Balbirnie, Mobile Reach’s chief operating officer, says the company’s partnership with Air-Q will allow it to expand in its local market of North Carolina, as well as certain markets in Florida, from Tampa and Sarasota to Jacksonville. He said the reach could even extend into Manhattan or out West.

Balbirnie tells Local Tech Wire that Mobile Reach, which is based in Cary, is currently working on another agreement with a provider in the area for a “national roaming deal.”

“The partnership with Air-Q represents the next step in our commitment to extending applications within the enterprise,” Balbirnie said. “Many of our customers are seeking solutions that increase productivity in a mobile environment rather than just a traditional middleware, our strategy is to deliver these solutions in a manner that not only make business sense but also fiscal sense”.

According to research from IDC, the mobile middleware market will achieve a compound annual growth rate of 36.5 percent through 2007, reaching a total of $1.58 billion.
