Telemetrix recently launched CentreGate, a brand which will be used to differentiate the wireless solutions and mobile switching services from the company’s established telemetry and telematic network data products and services.

As a result, Greg Hull, executive vice president for Atlanta-based Telemetrix, will assume the role of directing the operations of CentreGate and interfacing with vendors, suppliers and customers.

Most recently, Telemetrix signed a multi-service agreement with Wilkes Cellular Inc. to provide GSM switching along with other service components based on CentreGate’s hosted switching and intelligent network elements.

“We are pleased to announce our relationship with Wilkes Cellular,” said Hull. “Our hosted Mobile Switching Center and other hosted solutions — and billing services provide mobile operators with the ability to enable next generation networks at an affordable cost with a high degree of service and support.”

Wilkes Cellular provides a wide range of wireless products and services to its customer base in northeastern Georgia. The company was formed in 1991 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dycom Holding, a diversified group of telecommunications companies headquartered in Washington, GA.

“We were looking for an affordable way to deploy a complete GSM network, while minimizing the cost associated with the purchase of a new switch, the addition of critical network peripherals and the re-training and staffing of personnel,” said Wilkes VP Larry Houck. “The CentreGate hosted GSM switching, GPRS and other essential wireless network solutions will enable us to offer a comprehensive and market-competitive offering while re-focusing our capital expenditures on customer acquisition.”
