Misys Healthcare Systems, a provider of IT services to medical facilities, has signed an agreement with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston.
The contract covers the acquisition, deployment and software maintenance of Misys Pharmacy and Misys Insight, which are part of the Misys Optimum clinical information systems portfolio. MHG will use these solutions to enhance patient safety and reduce medication-related errors in pharmacy and other clinical departments.
Misys Pharmacy is an integrated, patient-focused application that reports and documents medication use throughout the medication management process across the care continuum. It will integrate with MGH’s ancillary systems, including manufacturing, patient order entry, patient billing, automated dispensing and finance, as well as perform medication inventory tracking.
Misys Insight is a web-enabled clinical decision support system that delivers clinical data notifications to physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other clinicians in order to help detect significant clinical events. The combined solution identifies duplicate medication orders, therapeutic conflicts, potential or actual adverse drug events, and critical or abnormal lab results.
“We are honored to partner with Massachusetts General Hospital, one of America’s founding hospitals and most respected and world-renowned medical institutions–,” said Andrew Lawson, president of Misys Healthcare’s Hospital Systems business unit. “As healthcare providers respond to patient and institutional demands for safer and better healthcare, Misys Healthcare Systems stands ready to provide market leading, patient-centered clinical solutions that deliver proven improvements in documentation, clinical decision support and medication management processes to enhance patient safety.”
