Wirless solutions company Air2Web has completed its acquisition of Wokup SA, a European provider of mobile applications.
“We are very excited about the merger with Wokup,” said Sanjoy Malik, president and CEO of Air2Web, which is already providing wireless solutions to companies and carriers in the U.S. and Asia Pacific. “By establishing Air2Web Europe, we have taken an important step towards expanding our global reach. Additionally, this acquisition will enable Air2Web to further support and extend our SMS backbone into Europe.”
Wokup currently serves many companies, including banking institutions like Credit Lyonnais, Societe Generale, and BRED; telcos like France Telecom, Orange and Telefonica, and many others, such as AXA, Cofinoga, Geopost, and NMPP.
Combining the products and technology of Air2Web and Wokup will enable these customers and others to use Air2Web’s suite of wireless products, which include 2Mail, 2IM, 2Notify, and the Content Gateway.
“All of us at Wokup are looking forward to joining the Air2Web team,” said Daniel Gerges, chief technology officer and co-founder of Wokup. “While we will continue to support our customers on our existing products, they will also have the opportunity to use Air2Web’s wireless solutions.”
As a result of the completed merger, Wokup’s office in France will operate as the European headquarters for Atlanta-based Air2Web.
