A4 Health Systems, a provider of electronic medical record solutions, has named David Bond to the new roles of president and chief operating officer.

Bond will lead the team of 300 employees in integrated clinical and administrative information systems for the healthcare community. He has been acting as executive vice president of A4’s Ambulatory Division.

The move provides for a concentration on operational management, the Cary-based company says, while allowing current CEO John McConnell to focus on strategic planning and new business development as A4 board chairman.

“David Bond and I have worked together for almost twenty-five years,” stated McConnell. “It makes sense for us to complement each other in our roles…he will work on growing the company organically.”

Bond, an A4 owner and investor, began his career by serving as vice president and co-founder of Specialized Data Systems, a provider of governmental accounting systems. In 1985, he joined McConnell at Medic Computer Systems as regional sales manager and later held positions as vice president of marketing, vice president of business development and vice president of customer support.

In 1998, Bond moved to private consulting, and later that year joined A4 Health Systems as vice president of sales and marketing. He assumed the role as executive vice president of A4’s Ambulatory Division in March 2001.
