Overture Networks’ new edge platform, the ISG 2200, was awarded “Product of the Month” by Telecommunications magazine.

The metro-networking platform earned top honors for its ability to deliver new Ethernet and legacy voice and data services across any type of network, while saving carrier and enterprise customers up to 65 percent in capital expenses, the company said.

“Overture Networks developed the ISG 2200 specifically to serve the metro edge, allowing service providers to build on top of both circuit-based and packet-based architectures, regardless of the actual deployed underlying infrastructure,” said Chip Redden, senior director of marketing and product management for Overture. “Our worldwide customers realize the benefits of flexibility in technologies, and the third-party recognition from Telecommunications gives strong validation to our approach.”

RTP-based Overture Networks launched the ISG 2200 into the metro-edge market in January to complement the company’s flagship networking platform — the ISG 5000.
