Arris has entered into an agreement to integrate, sell and support Nuera Communications’ carrier-class VoIP media gateways as part of its solutions for cable operators.

The teaming of Arris and Nuera will allow cable operators who own or have access to Class 5 switches to deploy a fully-integrated and tested VoIP solution using the PacketCable Line Control Signaling network architecture.

Along with Nuera’s Orca RDT-8 media gateway, the Arris solution incorporates the Alopa Metaserv provisioning system, the Cadant C4 cable modem termination system and Touchstone Telephony modems.

Additionally, this arrangement enables ARRIS to offer Nuera’s VoIP media gateways to cable operators that elect to deploy or migrate to a PacketCable distributed network, the company says.

“We’re pleased to add the gateway expertise of Nuera to our solutions,” said Arris Broadband VP of Marketing Stan Brovont. “The power of the two leading VoIP suppliers to the cable industry, combined with our integration capabilities, will deliver an immediately deployable solution for cable operators.”
