Alveolus, a developer of non-vascular interventional stent technology, has expanded its board of directors with the appointment of J. Blount Swain.
Swain, 47, has served as chief financial officer of YOUcentric in Charlotte, where Alveolus is now based. YOUcentric focused on the development and implementation of enterprise relationship management software and was sold to J.D. Edwards in 2001.
Previously, Swain served as CFO of Closure Medical Corp. in Raleigh, from 1992 until 2000. Closure, which has a partnership with Johnson & Johnson, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medical adhesives.
“We are extremely pleased to have Blount join our board of directors,” said Eric Mangiardi, president and chief executive officer of Alveolus. “His experience, leadership and strategic management skills within the medical device industry provide significant value to the company. We look forward to having Blount as an added resource.”
