Internap Network Services Corp. and Akamai Technologies have entered into an agreement that the companies say will allow them to drive additional revenue from content and applications delivery and IP services.

As part of the expanded relationship, Cambridge, MA-based Akamai will serve as the preferred content and applications delivery provider for Internap’s customers, and will become its only actively sold and marketed content and applications delivery provider.

The agreement broadens the current relationship between the companies, which already provides for joint sales and marketing programs, including regional sales events, coordinated lead generation as well as sales and customer incentives.

To date, the joint Internap-Akamai venture has yielded contracts with, Logitech, The Seattle Times Company, Travelocity, Value Line and WebMD.
