RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK–The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) says David Rubenstein, founding partner and managing director of global private equity firm, The Carlye Group has been added to speaker lineup at Venture 2004.

The CED says David P. Holveck, president of Johnson & Johnson Development Corp., will also address the conference. They join keynote speaker, former Sen. Bob Dole.

Scheduled for April 27-28, 2004, in Chapel Hill, NC, CED’s Venture 2004 will continue a 21-year tradition of showcasing North Carolina’s innovation economy and leading investment opportunities.

Rubenstein will speak during the first day of Venture 2004 on April 27. Prior to forming The Carlyle Group in 1987, Rubenstein served for six years as a partner in the Washington, DC law firm of Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge, where he was counsel on a number of major corporate acquisitions and mergers. Rubenstein, who received his undergraduate degree from Duke University, also served as deputy domestic policy assistant to the President of the United States, a position he held during the Carter administration.

Holveck will address Venture 2004 participants during a breakfast session on April 28. Holveck was named president of Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation in March 2003. He joined Johnson & Johnson Development Corp. as a company group chairman in October 1999, after the completion of the merger of Johnson & Johnson and biotech company Centocor, Inc. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Holveck had been CEO of Centocor since 1992 and a member of its board of directors since 1994.

“We are thrilled with the caliber of Venture 2004’s featured speakers, with their extensive experience in government, technology, life sciences and private equity,” said CED President Monica Doss. “Venture 2004 will continue a long-running tradition of celebrating the many entrepreneurial strengths of the Research Triangle and North Carolina.”

Beyond its strong speaker line-up, Venture 2004 will also feature presentations from North Carolina’s top investment opportunities.
