The N.C. Securities Industry Association (NCSIA), a non-profit trade association formed to represent the interests of the securities and banking industry, has named Richard Bryant its first chairman.

Bryant is a co-founder of Capital Investment Companies (CapInvestCo) and has served as its executive officer and principal since 1984. CapInvestCo is one of the largest independent financial services and brokerage firms in the Southeast and is based in Raleigh.

The NCSIA has been organized to represent the interests of broker-dealers, investment advisors, mutual funds, insurers and other firms doing business in the securities industry in North Carolina.

Bryant says that he will strive to make sure that NCSIA members act responsibly and with high ethical standards and that sound regulations and laws that guide the securities industry in North Carolina.

“Establishing unity in regard to common issues and concerns among those who work within and influence North Carolina’s security industry is important,” said Bryant. “My hope is that the NCSIA will become a much needed source for education, advocacy and promotion for the securities industry in North Carolina. Our goal is to put a local face on this large industry. I am looking forward to the challenge that launching this organization presents as well as the value the NCSIA can provide our state.”

Joining Chairman Bryant on the NCSIA board of directors will be John Quigley, chief operating officer of First Citizens Investors Services and Ronald Ottavio, a senior vice president with Wachovia.
