EarthLink has received an extended contract that will continue to make Level 3 Communications a key provider of wholesale dial-up through mid-2005.

EarthLink, which has approximately four million dial-up subscribers and more than five million customers overall, began using Level 3’s softswitch-based managed modem services more than four years ago.

Level 3, based in Broomfield, CO, also supplies EarthLink with private line, IP transit and co-location services that help support its broadband business. Atlanta-based EarthLink has more than one million subscribers to its cable and DSL high-speed Internet services.

“Over the past few years, Level 3 has demonstrated its commitment to EarthLink and proven that it’s a reliable network partner,” said Steve Dean, vice president of EarthLink’s Network Group. “Level 3’s network performance, geographic reach, and willingness to work closely with us to meet our needs played key roles in our decision to extend this relationship.”
