Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, has released a new router with dual Internet ports, which allow the user to connect a second Internet line as a backup, insuring permanent connection.
Alternatively, with the new 10/100 8-Port VPN Router (RV082), Linksys says the user can use both Internet ports simultaneously, in which case the router balances the office requirements between both ports, allowing maximum bandwidth efficiency.
Another added feature of the 10/100 8-Port VPN router is a built-in 8-port full-duplex 10/100 Ethernet switch, which allows the connection of 8 PCs directly. Additional switches can be connected in order to create a wider office network, as necessary.
The new router has been especially designed to meet the needs of today’s small businesses, the company says.
Businesses can benefit from the VPN capability of the router as encrypted “tunnels” are created through the Internet, says Linksys, allowing remote office workers to securely connect to their corporate network when travelling.
