LiveWire Logic has pulled in another $1 million as part of an extended Series A round of funding from its current investors.

Investors in the round include The Atlantis Group, Charlotte Angel Partners, Gray Ventures, Research Triangle Ventures, Triangle Investment Group and truePilot. Two additional, yet unnamed investors also participated in the round.

“The commitment of our initial investors speaks volumes about the product the development team has created and the potential for this company,” said Michael Lough, chief executive officer of LiveWire. “We’re fortunate to have this select group of investors by our side as the market adopts this technology.”

In April 2002, LiveWire received $2.8 million from the same group of investors, plus A.M. Pappas and Tri-State Investment Group. Not participating at the time was Triangle Investment Group.

Bernard Gray, president of lead investor Gray Ventures of Atlanta, said at the time, “LiveWire Logic has a very attractive business model and its RealDialog Enterprise product is a ‘must-have’ in reducing the costs of online self-service and improving customer satisfaction.”

LiveWire says the additional $1 million, received at the end of 2003, will help fund further sales and marketing efforts.

In March 2003, Richmond-based Circuit City became the first large consumer retailer to employ the RealDialog automated agent from RTP-based LiveWire.

New VP of sales named

In addition to its extended funding round, LiveWire has named Joe Drimer as vice president of sales, a position previously occupied by Eric Ward.

Drimer has served in CEO and executive VP of sales and marketing roles, was a partner or co-founder in Proact and MicroWholesalers, and was as an entrepreneurial consultant. He also held executive positions at Acer Technologies and Black and Decker.

“Joe’s ability to communicate the value of LiveWire’s technology will be a great asset to us as the adoption curve of self-service technologies grows in the coming year,” stated Lough. “He knows how to develop and manage numerous channels of distribution to leverage alliances and partnerships, which we view as key to expanding the reach of our RealDialog product line.”
