A4 Health Systems, a provider of electronic medical record technology, has exceeded 2003 expectations by reaching $47 million in sales and achieving more than a full year of ongoing profitability.

The Cary-based firm reports a 50 percent increase in revenue for 2003 over 2002, and a 240 percent increase in profitability over the same period.

A4 Health Systems, which employs 300, attributes the numbers to a strong healthcare market, management and sales strategies, and an acquisition made by A4 of Compusense last year.

“We are moving at more than three times the market rate of 8-10 percent; by all indicators we should be up by at least 30 percent next year,” said John McConnell, chief executive officer of A4 Health Systems. “We are growing because we have a vision and solutions that increase our customers’ efficiency and help improve patient care. The healthcare market is moving quickly toward automation and our products are being well received.”
