Linux is reaching the “tipping point” in acceptance for corporate enterprise, NewsFactor reports.

Forrester Research issued a report in 2003 examining the tipping point of Linux adoption in the enterprise. “Over the next 12 months, every CIO will be wondering whether they can get away with using Linux instead of Unix,” a Forrester analyst said last week after IBM announced a new line of point-of-sale offerings based on Linux.

“We’re in the middle of the tipping point as we speak,” the analyst added. “IBM has got this thing in prime time.”
