The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) has finalized details for its upcoming “Engage: Finance” session, which will be held Jan. 15 at the Embassy Suites in Cary.

The event is the first in a series of Engage sessions for the entire entrepreneurial community, featuring a keynote speaker, panel sessions and networking opportunities.

At Engage: Finance, previously announced keynote speaker Ken Wilcox, president and CEO of Silicon Valley Bank, will discuss the latest developments and issues in the current financial landscape during a luncheon address.

The event will also include entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and other area financial leaders exploring a range of topics during four concurrent sessions starting at 11 AM.

The first panel is “Finding Funding: Which Source is Right for You Company?” Members include John Cambier, vice president of new ventures at the MCNC Research and Development Institute; Nick England, president and CEO of 3rdTech; John Ujvari, SBIR program specialist at the Small Business and Technology Development Center; ArrayXpress President Michael Zapata; and Glenn Kline, president and CEO, Silicon Semiconductor.

Donald Holzworth, CEO of the Constella Group; Thomas Finegan, CEO and co-founder of Clarkston Consulting; Boramed Inc. President Andrew Kennedy and Joshua Chodniewicz, CEO and co-founder of Art.com, will make up the second panel, “Growing Your Company to Scale without Venture Capital.”

The third panel is “Debates in the Board Room: Not Your Typical “Corporate Reforms.” This discussion will involve Chuck ReCorr form the National Association of Corporate Directors; Janet Wylie, president and CEO of Engineous Software; Greg Bohlen, chief financial officer at The Aurora Funds; Jim Verdonik, partner at Daniels Daniels & Verdonik; and John Miller, president of Triangle Financial Concepts Inc.

The fourth and final panel is “Exploring the Exit Alphabet Soup: M&A, IPO, LBO, ESOP,” with Jack McGlinn, director of CapitalSouth Partners; Rick Carlisle, managing partner at Dogwood Equity; Bruce Kelleher, managing director of Cary Street Partners; and Gail Brown, financial consultant with Wachovia Securities’ Asset Management Group.
