eG Innovations, Inc. a provider of integrated network, system, application, and service monitoring software, has added more security features to its product offerings.
The eG performance monitoring suite now uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption, a feature targeted at firms wanted more secure communications.
“Until now, many service providers have had to deploy virtual private networks (VPNs) for secure access to remote networks,” said Srinivas Ramanathan, chief executive officer of eG Innovations, in a statement.
“Setting up and configuring VPNs is an expensive,time-consuming process. The latest enhancements in the eG suite offer significant advantages for remote monitoring across multi-domain networks. Customers can now configure the eG manager to support SSL and all user and agent accesses over the SSL tunnel. SSL configuration is a simple process and the use of the web protocol – HTTP – over SSL ensures that customers do not have to modify their firewall rules to allow monitoring traffic through.”
