Time Warner (TW) Telecom has been awarded a 3-year contract by Sigma Xi, a prestigious international science and engineering honors society.
TW Telecom will supply the society’s recently completed 52,400 sq. ft. headquarters in RTP with local and long distance telephone access and Ethernet Internet service.
Don Hunter, Sigma Xi director of telecommunications and information systems, says TW Telecom was able to increase Internet capacity six fold for less than double the price. These were decisive factors for a nonprofit like Sigma Xi, with a small staff and limited budgets, Hunter says.
“We can do so much more now than was possible with our legacy vendor,” he states. “Our plans include outfitting a conference center in our new $9.1M facility to conduct webcasts because collaboration for the advancement of science is our core mission. This kind of service is something our members have been clamoring for.”
