Proficient Systems has completed a $5 million third round of financing to help the company launch version 3.0 of the ProficientSales Server in January.

Participating in the round were all of Proficient’s existing institutional investors, including GIMV, Kinetic Ventures, Fuqua Ventures, and Labrador Ventures, along with Chairman and CEO Gregg Freishtat.

Last July, investors anted up $6 million for Proficient to complete a $9 million Series B round of funding for the company. GIMV, which was a new investor at the time along with Labrador, led that round. Fuqua and Kinetic also participated.

“Proficient has performed exceptionally well in a difficult IT spending environment,” said Kinetic’s Nelson Chu. “We remain excited and optimistic about the continued growth and success of Proficient.”

The new funding will be use to expand Proficient’s sales and marketing, the company says, accelerating its penetration of the financial services market with its new 3.0 release of the ProficientSales Server.

“Based on the continued growth of the company and our success with existing clients — all of our existing investors showed their confidence and economic support of the company.” said Freishtat. “With this new capital and ongoing acceptance by the financial services marketplace, we are confident of our ability to help our existing and new clients achieve their e-business objectives, and thereby continue to create shareholder value for all of our investors.”

Existing clients include Charlotte-based Bank of America and Huntington National Bank in Columbus, OH.

Proficient’s new 3.0 release introduces new functionality, including embedded predictive modeling, customer attitudinal measurement capability, and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

“This new release represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide the financial services market with technology and expert guidance to assist them in their quest to sell and service traditionally consultative products through the Internet,” said Jackson Wilson, vice president of product management for Proficient in Atlanta.
