A local non-profit organization called Band Together has attracted over 250 executives to a recent fund raiser and exceeded initial targets by raising $10,000 for the Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC).

Band Together is a group committed to supporting the Triangle through raising awareness and funds for local, national and international non-profit organizations.

Composed of business leaders from across the Triangle, Band Together held its recent fundraiser to raise awareness and money for the SONC. All of the net proceeds from the event went to the “Sponsor An Athlete” program to support Special Olympic entrants.

“There are thousands of athletes competing in Special Olympics across the state who need our support and that is why it was so rewarding to be part of this effort,” said Phil Gruber, one of the founders of Band Together and president of RPG Benefits Solutions. “The amount of support from the sponsors, steering committee members and other volunteers was overwhelming. Based on strong feedback, we have already begun planning the next event to help benefit another deserving non-profit organization.”

This fund raiser was the second event Band Together has produced and promoted in the Triangle. The group raised $60,000 in October 2001 after it was formed to provide relief to the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
