COLUMBIA,The University of South Carolina’s 23rd annual Economic Outlook Conference, which will feature Harvard’s Michael Porter, will be held Dec. 8 at the Adam’s Mark in Columbia.

Porter, one of the country’s leading authorities on economic competitiveness, will unveil his recommendations for a long-term strategy for South Carolina at a luncheon that will begin at 12:15 PM.

At 10 AM, Donald Schunk, a Moore School of Business economist, will present his outlook for South Carolina’s economy in 2004.

Schunk’s presentation will be followed by a panel discussion, titled “Economic Development in South Carolina: Three Views.” Panelists will be New York financier Darla Moore, S.C. Sec. of Commerce Bob Faith, and Don Herriott, chairman of the S.C. Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors.
