Pozen, a pharmaceutical company developing migraine therapies, has named former PharmaResearch President James Alexander, as senior vice president of product development.
In this role, Alexander is responsible for leading Pozen’s product development activities, which include overseeing toxicology, pharmaceutics, clinical operations, biostatistics, data management, and regulatory affairs.
Alexander will report to John Plachetka, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Chapel Hill-based Pozen, and will be a member of the executive committee.
“Jim’s extensive experience in clinical development and regulatory affairs will be great assets as we move our product candidates through development and seek marketing approval,” said Plachetka. “He has contributed to successful New Drug Applications in multiple therapeutic areas, including products for the treatment of migraine, epilepsy, asthma, bacterial infections, HIV, and other viral infections.”
Most recently, Alexander was chief medical officer for Inveresk Research Group. He was previously president and CMO at PharmaResearch, a member of the Inveresk Group.
Prior to joining PharmaResearch, Alexander served as VP and worldwide director for product safety and pharmacovigilance at GlaxoWellcome.
