Women In Technology (WIT) has honored Mapics with its Best Employer Award.
The award recognizes companies for programs and strategies that create a better, more successful workplace for women. Mapics was honored with winners from IBM, Southern Company and ChoicePoint.
WIT says Mapics was honored for its “pioneering efforts” in teleworking and virtual offices. Over 50 percent of the company’s workforce are teleworkers and over half of those work from a home office, saving fuel and time.
Mapics, based in Atlanta, also was cited for its employee surveys and focus groups to ensure continued employee satisfaction.
Prior to the awards ceremony, Mapics was announced as one of 12 finalists in the four award categories: Promotion of Women to Executive Ranks, Emerging Growth Firm, Work Life Balance, and Best Employer Overall.
Finalists were chosen based on surveys sent to both female technology employees and to employers in the technology industry. Winners were chosen by a panel of judges.
“Mapics employees around the world are the real recipients of this award since it is our employees’ commitment to both personal and professional excellence which promotes Mapics continuing success in our industry, as well as recognition as their employer of choice,” said Dick Cook, president and CEO of Mapics.
