Recent startup RedPelican has expanded its board of directors and executive management team through the addition of two new executives.

Salim Bhatia, chairman and chief executive officer of Trinity Convergence, has been named to RedPelican’s board. Bhatia joins RedPelican CEO Donald Fluken and Fred Hutchison of Hutchison & Mason PLLC on the company’s board.

“Led by Don Fluken, RedPelican’s executive management has a proven track record and has already built great momentum for RedPelican in a short period of time,” said Bhatia. “RedPelican brings a truly unique approach to solving marketing process management challenges. I’m pleased to serve on the Board and look forward to helping them reach their goals in the marketing automation space.”

RedPelican has also named Cindy Bernstein as vice president of sales. In this role, Bernstein will be responsible for RedPelican’s North American sales. She will report directly to Fluken.

Prior to RedPelican, Bernstein was VP of global business development at Formscape, where she was responsible for managing a sales team that grew revenues by 30 percent year to year. She also has held several executive management roles at Actional, IMG Americas, Oracle, Digital Equipment Corp. and Xerox.

“The combined experience of Cindy and Salim will enable us to expand our position in the marketing automation market well into 2004 and beyond, and we’re thrilled to welcome these talented veterans to the RedPelican team,” said Fluken. “They bring a long-term commitment and deep industry knowledge in the technology we’re bringing to market globally, which will be invaluable as we grow.”

Headquartered in Durham, RedPelican provides InFlight, a marketing communications process management platform that allows marketers to manage their programs themselves.
