Women in Technology (WIT) has announced the finalists for its Best Employers in Georgia Awards, to be held Oct. 30 at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead.

In its second year, the 2003 WIT’s Best Employers in Georgia program received more than 80 nominations. The survey process helped narrow entries received down to 12 finalist companies

They are AGSI, CheckFree Corp., ChoicePoint, Computer Associates, IBM, Mapics, NetBank, nPorta / TravelASP Inc., Seagull Software, SEI, Southern Company and Witness Systems.

WIT says each finalist has put forth notable efforts toward creating an environment rich in opportunities for women to accelerate their careers.

Winners will be commended on their efforts in one of four categories: Promotion of Women at Executive Ranks, Best Emerging Growth Firm (new for 2003), Work/Life Balance, and Best Employer Overall.

“WIT’s Best Employers has the statistical data to back up our program and truly recognize those Georgia employers that stand out from the rest–.” said WIT President Dawn Patrick. “Our surveys — will serve as a new information resource to help women identify employers that are committed to the professional advancement of women in technology, and will assist employers in their efforts to recruit top women candidates for key jobs in the technology sector.”

The Oct. 30 awards ceremony will honor all 12 of the finalists and announce the four winners. There will also be a keynote speaker, Pin Pin Chau, the president and CEO of Summit National Bank.
