Georgia Secretary of State Cathy Cox has joined the roster of guest speakers for the Georgia Technology Celebration, scheduled for Oct. 21 at the Cobb Galleria Center.

“Through Secretary Cox’s leadership, Georgia became the first state in the nation to adopt a single, statewide electronic voting system and deploy it simultaneously in every county,” said celebration chair John Yates, who leads the technology group at law firm Morris, Manning & Martin. “It’s a great achievement that is helping advance Georgia’s reputation as a technology-leading state.”

Cox will speak at the Celebration’s Baton Awards reception starting at 6 PM. Sharing the podium with her will be Dave Dorman, chairman and chief executive officer of AT&T.

They join a roster of noted speakers during the celebration, including Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue, who will keynote the event, and Garry Betty, CEO of EarthLink.

Expected to attract the best and the brightest from across Georgia, the Tech Celebration will gather technology stars from past and present and showcase the technology heritage the state has produced.

In addition to members of the Technology Association of Georgia, who are hosting the event, participants will include representatives from bricks-and-mortar companies, biotech, investment firms, nonprofit organizations, academia and tech-related companies that all have a vested interest in the growth of the technology industry in Georgia.
