The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) is attracting attract a growing list of sponsors to support its upcoming Georgia Technology Celebration.

Scheduled to be held on Oct. 21 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, the celebration has attracted support from Georgia’s technology, business and government communities.

“We have a terrific event shaping up to celebrate the enormous contribution the technology industry has made to our state, and our sponsors are making it possible,” said John Yates, who leads law firm Morris, Manning & Martin’s technology group and is chairman of the celebration. “Each of these organizations understands so well the importance of this day to Georgia’s technology community and to the state’s future economic growth.”

TAG has already secured sponsorship from Char Baxter Communications, Computer Associates and Morris, Manning & Martin; gold level from AGL Resources, CheckFree, Interland, State ICAPP and STI Knowledge, silver from Covente, NetBank, Procuri, Silicon Valley Bank and Silverpop; and a bronze sponsorship from ExactTarget.

Other organizations have sponsored specific portions of the Tech Celebration program including, including the Atlanta Business Chronicle and the Atlanta CEO High-Tech Council, which is hosting an Investor Showcase at the Galleria, from 9 AM till noon, immediately preceding the kick-off of the celebration. The Investor Showcase is an invitation only event where investors will have an opportunity to meet with some of Georgia’s most promising new and high-growth technology companies.

The Georgia Dept. of Industry, Trade and Tourism’s Office of Science and Technology (GDITT) is sponsoring the event’s TAG Cyber Cafe, a town hall-style meeting and networking session. TAG President Steve Jeffery will host the Cyber Cafe sessions where participants will have an opportunity to learn about TAG’s latest initiatives, an update on the current job market and how to get involved in helping drive the future of Georgia’s technology industry.

As a program sponsor, Manhattan Associates is sponsoring the panel discussion titled “Lessons Learned” beginning at 1:45 PM the day of the celebration. Moderated by Ed Baker, publisher Atlanta Business Chronicle, this panel format will feature 20 executives who will give honor to the past and identify challenges of building a business in Georgia.

Yates noted other sponsorship opportunities which are still available, including Power Lunch with Gov. Sonny Perdue as keynote speaker and Garry Betty, CEO of EarthLink; the panel discussion called “Where Do We Go From Here?” that is facilitated by and use a methodology developed by Charlie Farley for state address the challenges strategy for development to re-energize Georgia’s growth in the technology sector; and the Awards Reception, a cocktail party where industry stars of past and present will be honored, with guest speakers Georgia Sec. of State Cathy Cox and Dave Dorman, chairman and CEO of AT&T.
