ChannelAdvisor has unveiled a road map for “empowering” retailers and manufacturers to utilize online marketplaces for a sales channel for selling products throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Scot Wingo, chief executive officer and president, presented the company’s road map at the ChannelAdvisor Strategy Summit 2003, an event for enterprise product lifecycle management (PLM) via online marketplaces.

“ChannelAdvisor provides a multiple-marketplace strategy allowing large enterprises to cascade product from one marketplace to another to maximize yield,” Wingo said in unveiling the plan. “ChannelAdvisor offers full-service solutions that enables large enterprises to stay focused on internal competencies and leverage ChannelAdvisor’s marketplace expertise.”

ChannelAdvisor Enterprise Public Marketplace Edition is designed to enable large manufacturers and retailers the ability to open a new consumer sales channel on eBay. More than 80 percent of large enterprises selling on eBay today are ChannelAdvisor clients, including Dell, Sears and IBM.

ChannelAdvisor Enterprise Private Marketplace Edition also is intended to help manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers to sell products on their own branded, private online marketplace to existing channel partners or resellers. Although private marketplaces are developed, hosted and managed by ChannelAdvisor, the clients’ existing brands are applied to this new sales channel so that ChannelAdvisor becomes transparent and the focus is on the client and its buyers.

Through ChannelAdvisor, retailers and manufacturers have the ability to offer their products for sale on Amazon.com. ChannelAdvisor’s integration with Amazon.com enables retailers and manufacturers to link their catalog and fulfillment systems into Amazon.com’s Merchants@ e-commerce platform.

Finally, ChannelAdvisor Enterprise Catalog Syndication Edition provides a solution that enables retailers and manufacturers to syndicate their product catalogs to multiple portals, shopping engines and content sites. It enables companies to use a single integration with ChannelAdvisor into an array of affiliates such as Shopping.com, BizRate, Yahoo! Shopping, AOL Shopping, Froogle, PriceGrabber, CNET and MySimon.
