Glenayre Technologies (Nasdaq: GEMS), says it has sold a Versera High Density Messaging unit (HDMu) to Rural Cellular Corp., a full-service wireless company.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rural Cellular of Alexandria, MN, has strategic operations in the Midwest, Northeast, Northwest and the Southern regions of the United States. Glenayre is based out of Atlanta.

As the next evolution in Glenayre’s Modular Voice Processor (MVP) product family, the company says the Versera HDMu provides operators with improvements in operational costs and efficiencies in a messaging platform that scale to support both small and large markets.

Another benefit of the Versera HDMu, according to Glenayre, is a reduction in the footprint of voice messaging equipment by as much as two-thirds.

Glenayre says the Versera HDMu also doubled the voice-hours capacity of an MVP system, and that port power consumption reduced by approximately 60 percent.
