CARY–SpectraSite (OB:SPCS), one of the largest wireless tower operators, reported a net loss of $7.6 million or 32 cents a share in the second quarter, compared with a loss of $126.1 million or 82 cents a share in the same period last year.

Revenue for the quarter totaled $80.9 million, compared with $73.2 million in 2002.

The company said revenue from broadcast services were $3.4 million for the second quarter compared to $6.2 million last year. Operating income for the second quarter was $13.4 million, up from a loss of $49.1 million in the same period in 2002.

SpectraSite said it adjusted all prior period results to reflect the sale of 545 towers to Cingular in February 2003.
