CommScope (NYSE:CTV)reported a net loss of $51.4 million or 87 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $42.5 million, or 69 cents a share in the same period last year.

The company reported sales revenue of $141.4 million compared with $155 million a year ago and $129.4 million in the first quarter of 2003.

The quarter over quarter revenue increase came from stronger sales to broadband service providers, wireless, and local area networks, the company said.

Commscope said its sales decline from the same quarter last year was due to lower global broadband and video sales.

CommScope is the world’s largest manufacturer of broadband coaxial cable for Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) applications and a leading supplier of high-performance fiber optic and twisted pair cables for LAN, wireless and other communications applications.
